Likkle Lookout

A three-level townhome in the gated Columbus Heights community, poised in the cool hills above Ocho Rios Bay. Two bedrooms (a king, and two singles), two and a half baths, air-conditioned living, a full kitchen, a rooftop deck and a lattice gazebo with the whole bay below it. The community pool is down the path, security is on the gate around the clock, and the shops, restaurants and beach are a short walk down the hill.

Mallard Mile

A single-storey brick home at the end of a cul-de-sac in Conroe, with the neighbourhood lake curving behind it and a walking trail along the bank. Three bedrooms and two baths, a kitchen stocked down to the seasonings, a proper office with high-speed internet, and a patio under the oak where the ducks and geese come to see who has arrived. Lake Conroe is fifteen minutes west; The Woodlands twenty minutes south.

Dunn’s River Falls

The famous climb up the terraced falls to the road, hand in hand with a guide, ten minutes west of the complex.

Mystic Mountain

The chairlift up through the rainforest, the bobsled run and the zipline, with the whole bay below.

Ocho Rios Bay Beach

The town beach at the bottom of the hill: white sand, calm water and a bar, a short walk or a taxi from the gate.

Lake Conroe Park

The public beach and picnic park on the big lake, fifteen minutes west on Highway 105.

Sam Houston National Forest

The Lone Star Hiking Trail runs for a hundred miles through the pines north of Conroe; the nearest trailheads are half an hour away.

The Woodlands Waterway

Restaurants and the water taxi along the canal in The Woodlands, twenty minutes down I-45.

Posh Paths is the two places I most like to share. The townhome in Ocho Rios is where I take visiting family and friends: the gazebo at sunset, jerk at Scotchies while you watch it cook over the coals, the drive up to the Blue Hole. The lake house in Conroe is where my American friends, the ones who call to ask if I am cooking Jamaican today, come to slow down, walk the trail and feed the ducks.

Book directly with me and you deal with me from the first question to the last morning. If you want a driver from the airport, a chef for a birthday dinner or a table booked for the night you land, say so and I will arrange it.

The north coast of Jamaica and the piney woods of Texas

Likkle Lookout sits in Columbus Heights, on the hill above Ocho Rios in St. Ann, less than half an hour from Ian Fleming International Airport. Mallard Mile is in Conroe, forty miles north of Houston, thirty-five minutes from Bush Intercontinental.

St. Ann, Jamaica

A garden parish with the sea at the bottom of every road

Ocho Rios is the cruise port and garden town of Jamaica’s north coast, between the hills and a wide bay. Columbus Heights sits above it, close enough to walk down for groceries and the beach, high enough that the breeze finds the gazebo every evening. The famous waterfalls are ten minutes west, the quieter ones twenty minutes into the hills, and the road east runs past Oracabessa and Port Maria to the small airport at Boscobel.
